PARKER MAY
The 2009 racing season provided a great opportunity for Parker May to develop his skills and talent by being granted permission to compete in the Super Late Model Division at the Marshfield Motor Speedway in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Parker at the age of 13 is the youngest driver ever to compete in the 500 plus horsepower Super Late Model Class while finishing an impressive tenth overall in the 2009 point standings and winning the coveted Rookie of the Year Award at the asphalt half mile speedway.

2008 season brought significant changes for May’s racing career, competing in full size race cars against competitors twice or even three times his age, May quickly became a fan favorite. Media attention grew for the twelve year old, with articles and photos on multiple occasions in local newspapers. On the track he earned the respect of the other drivers and won seven heats and four features wins driving his Ford Escort and Ford Mustang. May earned Rookie of the Year honors at 141 Speedway in the Sport-Four Division and finished seventh in points with a field of twenty-five or more regular competitors.

In 2007, Parker competed in a wide variety of karting events focusing on gaining experience and not limiting his racing to a weekly series simply to capture another track championship. These events included the Mid-American Speedway Series, the North Carolina Winter Series and WKA King of the Oval as well as local Wisconsin and Illinois karting tracks. These series’ and tracks provided a great expansion in May’s experience as he was able to compete a year early in the more powerful WKA Junior III class. May was very competitive and won multiple events and fast-time awards throughout the year. The 2007 season was a breakthrough year as May began to regularly practice his 1995 Ford Escort on local stock car tracks.

The 2006 season saw him participating at a variety of karting venues. He competed in asphalt and dirt oval racing, WKA Sprint races, which are held on road courses. May also piloted the high-powered 2-cycle WKA sprint class. May participated in over 80 racing events and collected 41 feature wins and 62 heat wins while participating in local and nationally sanctioned events in Illinois, Indiana, North Carolina and Wisconsin.

In 2005, May competed in the sealed-engine class and WKA Junior and won 24 features and 58 heat races while competing three nights a week in three weekly racing series and multiple WKA and State Championship events.

2004 was his first full season, and his career took off while racing in a sealed-engine class. It was a quick learning curve for the young driver and the pit crew. As the year went on, May became faster and his driving skills and knowledge of the karts were coming together. Soon he was winning races and received Rookie of the Year honors at HiGo Raceway, Cecil, Wis. Parker compiled 9 heat wins and 7 feature victories in 2004.

As a 7-year-old, May first competed in the summer of 2003. May realized racing was what he wanted to do and gave up other sports to race.
A native of Marietta, Ohio, now residing in De Pere, Wis., May is a second-generation racer; his father drove SCCA Pro Racing and stock cars throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest regions.
May is an honor student at West De Pere Middle School, in De Pere, Wis. with a 3.7 GPA. He is not only a committed student and racer, but also crews and enjoys working on his older sister’s (Reagan May) Wisconsin Sport Truck and Super Late Model.
